The Bunker business culture encapsulates flexibility and security and as an organisation we are responsive, innovative and always practical. We are ever mindful of the enormous trust and responsibility that has been vested in us by our clients and by achieving BSI endorsement of our Data Centre Facilities and Managed Services Solutions we hope to reinforce this.
Security is not just about making sure a firewall is installed in the best place to prevent hacker attacks or that an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) has been configured correctly, it is also about making sure we use formal Change Control Processes with back-out plans so as to reduce the likelihood of unplanned downtime: it’s about having a well thought out Business Continuity Plan so that should a disaster occur, no matter how remote the possibility, we have a pre-prepared and tested plan in place to help us recover with the minimum disruption to our customers.
We recently developed and introduced an ISO 27001 compliant Information Security Management System (ISMS) to The Bunker business. The first activity when designing the ISMS was a formal Risk Assessment of all aspects of our business – Physical, Logical and People. The results from this allowed us to develop new policies and processes where necessary and put controls in place where we were vulnerable. Once this was done, we introduced a Continuous Service Improvement Plan and Audit Programme to ensure we don’t become complacent, we are constantly striving to improve our security to ensure the risk of The Bunker losing the Confidentiality, Integrity or Availability of information, whether it be our own or our customers’, is - and remains - at an acceptably low level.
The British Standards Institution (BSi) carried out a rigorous assessment of our Information Security Management System during February 2008 and confirmed it meets the requirements of the ISO 27001 standard. We were very proud to have our certificate of conformance presented in person by BSi’s Global Marketing Director Mr Robin Pilcher. But most importantly, we are extremely pleased that this world renowned certification body agrees we do take security as seriously as we know and say we do.
